Altos de Chavon
belongs to Casa de Campo and is a reconstructed Mediterranean city from the 16th century.
Art, culture, entertainment and first class restaurants are located here. Altos de Chavon
also features an international recognized Shool of Artists, which is supported by Casa de
Campo. Further there is a very complete
Taino Indian museum located.
San Francisco de Macoris
In the center of rice-fields, San Francisco is a clean and pretty town.
Through the agriculture there is to recognize a certain kind of wealthyness.
Punta Rucia
This beautiful beach is located at the northern coast of the Dominican Republic.
There is only one hotel, the "Discovery Bay" for which we are still missing
information.
Playa Dorada
The golden sandy beach gives this area it's name. (Playa Dorada = Golden beach)
This golden beach is the base for a luxury and complete complex of hotels.
An 18 hole Golf Course and the huge Plaza Dorada Shopping Center make Playa Dorada to one
of the most complete and attractive touristic locations of the
Dominican Republic.
Located only 10 minutes from Puerto Plata there are unnumbered sights to see and places to

Playa Grande
Is an own, quite world which is in the touristic development. Like Playa Dorada,
this area will be developed by the Dominican Central Bank and private investors.

Isla Catalina

Samana
The peninsula Samana hosts the highest amount of Coconut Palm trees, which are

In the northern part of Samana you will find the Waterfall of "El Limon",

Levantado located, one of the small Caribbean dream islands - which belong to the
Dominican Republic. In the south-eastern part of Samana you will find the
national reservation, the Rainforest of "Los Haitises", where you find a huge
variety of exotic birds and plants, as well as caves in which Taino Indians and Pirates
hid - a long time ago.
The most special attraction of Samana are the Dominican Hunchback Whales.
The mammon can become up to 15m long and up to 45 tons of weight. Hunchback whales may
reproduce themselves within their 4th year of life. The pregnancy takes 11-12 month and
they can give birth once, every 2 years.
Every year from January to March around 3000 whales visit the area called "Silver
Bank" for reproductional purpose. The Silver Bank is a giant sandy underwater
platform. The name has it's origin in the treasures of silver and gold, lost by the boats
which grounded in the shallow waters. The most famous
wreck is the "Conception", which grounded and sank in 1641.
Saona
Located at the east Caribbean coast of the Dominican Republic, this is the biggest of the
"small" Dominican dream islands. You can make excursions to this pearl and the
beautiful exotic coast surroundings from every hotel.

Is located in the Bay of Samana and one of the small Dominican dream islands.

Higuey
Higuey is located in the eastern country part of the Dominican Republic and the most
religious of the Dominican cities.
The city was founded in 1584 by Juan Ponce de Leon. The monument of Higuey is
it's cathedral "Nuestra Seņora de la Altagracia".
Juan Dolio
Located at the south coast of the Dominican Republic and in a distance of 60km to the
capital Santo Domingo and 30km from the International Airport of "Las Americas".
Juan Dolio and the new part of Juan Dolio, named "Villas del Mar"
are the biggest touristic center on the south coast and have many local attractions in the
day as well as in the night.
The beaches are beautiful and protected by coral reefs.

La Romana

La Vega
La Vega is one of the oldest towns in the Dominican Republic.
In the eastern area of La Vega, you can explore "La Vega - Pueblo Viejo",
where are located the ruins of a from Columbus constructed Fort and ruins of a
Franciscan cloister.
Next to the ruins you will see a mountain, this is the "Santo Cero" the holy
way. Talking about a street market with holy statues, every 100m, which leads you to the

Luperon

Monte Cristi
Is located in the north western part of the Dominican Republic and close to the last city
before the Haitian border.
The landmarks of Monte Christi are the old Clock-Tower in the middle of the city, which
you should not use to get the current time ... and the "Morro" a lonely mountain
which finds it end in the ocean. This mountain looks a little like the back of a camel, as
Cristoph Columbus remarked once.
And it's true, with some imagination you can imagine a camel - a big one, but a camel ...

Puerto Plata
Puerto Plata is a beautiful city with lot's of cute Victorian style houses,
the central park with it's colorful, reconstructed pavilion, the mountain
"Isabel de Torres" on which you can get with the "Teleferico" a cable
car.
On top of the "Isabel de Torres" you will find a around 16m tall monument
"Cristo Redentor" - the Jesus statue overlooking all the Puerto Plata area.
This town is full of live and energy. You should take a walk among the "Malecon"
- the Ocean road, on which you can reach the Fortress San Felipe - a 100% fortress of the
16th century.
When you get back to the Central Park, continue walking 5 more minutes and you reached the
Amber Museum, the Museum of Dominican Amber history ... by the way, from this museum is
the piece of Ameber, which is used in the move "Jurassic Park" - go and see it
live!
Miches
Is located at the southern side of the Samana Bay. A very small fishermen's village. From
this point are organized dive excursions to interesting points in
the bay.
La Isabella
This is, where the first settlement of Columbus took place. Here you can see
how it happened in the past ! There is a museum, which gives you plenty of background
information and to round it up - the complete settlement is under
reconstruction and you can see the first house of Columbus in the Dominican Republic ...
compare it with his latest one !
Las Terrenas
Located on the northern part of the peninsula Samana, Las Terrenas is a quiet place, where
you find individual tourists and small, good hotels.
With around 40km finest caribbean "dream" beaches, a well developed day and
nightlife, with shops, bakery, cafes, restaurants, bars and discos - there is
plenty to do in Las Terrenas. However, it's a little kind of quite. So, perfect
for you, who like it like this.
From here you can do excursions in Jeeps, 4 wheel motorbikes or on the horseback
and the lush tropical vegetation will have unnumbered surprises for the careful
observer of nature.
Las Galeras
Located in the north eastern part of the peninsula Samana, Las Galeras is a very
small, very quites and very beautiful place. There are only small hotels and guest houses.
If you like absolute quiet vacation, to be alone on the beach and only some tourists
around you in the area - this is the place for you.
Many whale-watching tours start in Las Galeras and it's also well known for the good
diving grounds.
We suggest to observe the whales only from the coast/beach or with specialized guided
tours - to reduce the distortion of the whales in their reproductional
process.
San Cristobal
Is located at the south coast of the Dominican Republic, in the western direction of Santo
Domingo. In the Cityhall of San Cristobal was written and
signed the first constitution of the Dominican Republic.
San Pedro de Macoris
Located on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic, San Pedro is a
sugarcane, baseball and university city. Sugarcane is the main industry
in San Pedro, which is surrounded with sugarcane fields. The University
UCE (University - Central of the East) has an international reputation for excellent
medical knowledge and training. Many students from all over the
world, mostly from the USA, are in San Pedro - to become a Doctor.
Further, San Pedro seems to have very good presuppositions to create world class baseball
players - for example Jorge Bell and Samy Sosa.
If you are visiting Juan Dolio / Villas del Mar, you have to take a Taxi and
enjoy a ride through the beautiful, real Dominican, city. You will drive along the
"Malecon" - the Ocean Street to the Central Park, through some small streets
where the market is located and maybe you stop by the supermarket to buy some
necessities. This is a complete impressen of the Dominican way of live.
Valle del Cibao
Located in the center of the Dominican Republic, the Cibao Vally is the heard of the
Dominican Republic. It is one of the richest valleys in the world. From rice and other
agriculture products there are Ferro-Nickel, Iron, Gold and other minirals, the Cibao
Valley takes a key position in the Dominican economy.
Santiago
Santiago de los Caballeros, home of world famous Rum and Cigars.
Visiting Santigao, you will recognize, that this city looks very European and when you
come on a Sunday, you may go up to the top of the Santiago Monument -
to have a beautiful overview of Santiago and the green Cibao Valley. Continue your visit
in the Museum of Tobacco and to the Central Park. Here are the Cityhall, the church and
further historic buildings located. From the Central Park, you should take a horse-wagon
to enjoy a ride through the city.
Batey
El Batey, this name has it's root in the great sugarcane history of the Dominican
Republic. "El Batey" are called the small houses of the sugarcane
workers which are located arround the sugarcane factory.
Well, today there is on "El Batey", which is located in Juan Dolio and it's
function is not the usual known. Juan Dolio's "El Batey" is a huge shopping
center, with lot's of activities and sights.
Soon there also will be the Amber Museum Juan Dolio in "Batey" and you can
get a complete impression of Ambar, Dominican Coins, Gold, Larimar, Dominican
Black Jade and everything around Dominican History and present.
Further you have a big Supermarket, Souvenir Shop, Jewelry, Drug Store, Cafeteria, Travel
Agent Offices, a Mini Zoo and a Disco, where meet tourist and
Dominicans, to dance the night away.
Santo Domingo
The first City of the new world and the cradle of America, this is the official
title of Santo Domingo. It is the biggest metropolis on all the Caribbean islands and
offers a bright versatility of attractions to it's visitors.

Zona Colonial
This is the historic part of the city of Santo Domingo and a 100% must for every
visitor of the Dominican Republic, as this is the place - where it all began,
the new world - the settlement of America.
We only name the most significant attraction. For the history interested visitor, the Zona
Colonial has a 2-3 day program to offer, with many museums.
Alcazar de Colon
As Diego Colon Virrey de Indias, son of Christoph Columbus, decided to build his house, he
ordered engineers from spain and 1500 Indian workers to build his palace.
This should be the plave, from which the new world would be governed. Today
it is the princpal monument of Santo Domingo and the Dominican Republic. In
the palace you can find a museum.
Catedral de Santo Domingo
The portal of the Cathedral of Santo Domingo shows the imperialistic symbol of Charles the
V., pictures of the four evangelists and further interesting architectonic elements.
Fortaleza Ozama
The Ozama Fort was build in the time of colonization and you will recognize the
classic medieval style. In it's center, there is the "Tower of honor", which was
used as prison until this century.
Panteon Nacional
The building was constructed in 1714 by the Jesuits and in 1958 remodeled and transformed
in the National Pantheon. In the center hall you will find a beautiful, giant chandelier,
which was a gift from the Spanish government, to the restauration and inauguration of the
monument.
Museo de las Atarazanas Reales
The builing was the house of 'Capitan General de la Colonia', the General Captain of the
Colony.
Today it is a museum where you can study history from 1600 - 1821. As well there
is a collection of treasures, which have been found in wracks at the Dominican
coast.
Puerta del Conde
The Conde Gate, the letters in the portal say "It is sweet and honorful to die for
the fatherland." it leads into the independence park, where you will find a temple in
which the national heroes are honored with over-size statues from marble. The national
heroes Juan Pablo Duarte, Francisco del Rosario Sanchez and Ramon Matias Mella are buried
here.
Calle las Damas
This is the "Street of the Ladies", where Maria de Toledo -wife of Diego Colon-
took her walk an accompany with her friends. Today this is a around 1.5km long
walking-zone which connects the Cathedral of Santo Domingo and the Independence Park. Here
are located unnumbered nice stores and boutiques, with the very special flair of the
historic surrounding.
Sosua
About 15km east of Puerto Plata you will find this touristic city. It was founded by
Jewish settlers in 1940. They build up a milk industry, which supplies the entire
Dominican Republic with milk products.
There are various small, smaller and big hotels - in all prices classes and
with nice beaches. The city offers lot's of shops, bars, restaurants and discos.
Cabarete
About 20km east of Puerto Plata you will find Cabarete, a Wind-surfers paradise.
The hotels are good and economic, the people mostly young - the atmosphere as well. There
are lot's of shops "all around surfing", boutiques, bars, discos ...
The best place in the Dominican Republic, if you love Windsurfing.
Los Haitises
Located in the eastern center of the Dominican Republic, close to the bay of Samana, this
is the most spectacular and interesting natural reservation in the Dominican Republic -
which you easily can explore with a guided tour.
Visit the Rainforest of "Los Haitises", where you find a huge variety of exotic
birds and plants, as well as caves in which Taino Indians and Pirates hid - a long time
ago.

Lago Enriquillo
The Lago Enriquillo, Lake Enriquillo is the biggest saltwater lake in the Caribbean. It is
located in the south western part of the Dominican Republic
and under sea-level. The lake hosts the highest reserve of the American Crocodile, as well
as Iguanas and Flamingoes. This is the area where the
Taino Indian Leader Enriquillo and his tribe lived.
Monte Cristi
A small fishermen village, surrounded by semi-dessert and the ocean.
The mountain ... El Morro de Monte Cristi, from which Columbus should
have said "it looks a little like the back of a Camel" is the principal
monument of Monte Cristi. Here is a big production of salt and Platano,
a species of Banana to cook or fry.
Constanza
Located in the sub-tropical central mountains of the Dominican Republic, this is a small
village surrounded with coffee and cocoa plantations. While exploring the area of
Constanza, you will discover crystal clear waterfalls and rivers.
Jarabacoa
